AQUA.abib is a spin-off from the UPC university that has developed a unique technology for sustainable water desalination. It counts with 3 shareholders and 4 additional employees covering all the technical and business areas. AQUA.abib is now building its first commercial system and counts with several strategic partners with whom to ensure the posterior commercialization. The local public administration is also very interested in the initiative and has joined the H2020 project as third party. AQUA.abib aims to provide a system that will replace the dominant one (reverse osmosis) for small communities living close to the seashore in areas with medium-high solar irradiation. Also, AQUA.abib will transform the system, due to its complementary outputs, into an integral solution for underdeveloped areas, providing water, agriculture and economical activities where implemented. Our aim is to expand first in the Mediterranean and Middle east, and to the rest of the world on a second stage.
